History and Curriculum Workshops
Mark your calendars for our upcoming workshop Liven up the Learnin, and 3-day living history workshop tentatively planned for August 13th through the 16th! Learn how to easily create or add to your curriculum and joyfully see your children learning with enthusiasm. For registration forms, select History Tour or Saturday’s workshop, Liven up the Learnin.
Homeschool Record Keeping Looking for an easy way to keep track of attendance and what your children have accomplished through the years? Check out www.Edu-Track.com. This is a computer program that allows you to enter all your information and print out your records along with many reports. There are many curriculum lesson plans available to download into the program, saving you even more time by not having to type everything in. Their website provides all the details and their customer service is quick and helpful. The great thing is that this is a one-time investment. You can use it for all the years that you homeschool without re-purchasing each year.
Legislative Issues Keep up to date on homeschool legislative issues and find out how our representatives are really representing us with these three websites. Treon Goossen is a homeschool mom who has made it her job to lobby for homeschooling and to keep us informed regarding a variety of homeschooling and family legislation. Her website is www.RO828.com (as in Romans 8:28). If you have time, please thank her for the wonderful job she is doing for all of us!
The second website is www.Congress.org. Here, you can sign up to receive emails (MegaVote) about upcoming issues that our representatives will be voting on, how they voted on issues, and even weather or not they voted. This is a great simple tool for us to stay informed and provides an easy means of contacting our representatives to let them know where we stand on issues.
Of course we can’t leave out HSLDA. They also do a fabulous job keeping us informed about legislative issues. If you haven’t joined, please consider it. It is worth the money. Along with your membership, you can also sign up to receive weekly legislative emails. Go to www.hslda.org for information on membership and how to sign up and stay informed via email.
Books for Boys Some great character building books for boys are: Boyhood and Beyond, Created for Work, and Practical Happiness. They are all written by Bob Schultz and can be found at www.christianbook.com.
CSU Math and Science Camps CSU is offering math and science summer camps for middle and high school students. These camps are free to students in the following districts: Adams County 14, Brighton, Elizabeth, Englewood, Gilpin County, Jefferson County, Mapleton. There is a fee for all others. To download a brochure, go to http://rmmsmsp.cudenver.edu/files/SummerCampsBrochures/2008%20CSU%20Brochure.pdf.
Summer and Fall Sports Football season is approaching, and summer conditioning camps will soon be getting underway. If you have an elementary or middle school child interested in football or another sport (basketball, baseball, softball or volleyball), check out www.DCDolphins.com and get on a team!
Park Days are here! Throughout the summer months, we like to continue meeting for fellowship, playtime, and sunshine. We generally meet once a week for a few hours at a local park. If you’d like to join us, please send us an email and request a schedule.

Public School Enrichment Programs—Do They Help or Hurt?
Have you wondered how a public school enrichment program might help (or hurt) you? Many of us have been tempted to consider using them whether it is just for a little break, to teach a subject that we are lacking skills in, or just because it sounds so good and “costs” us nothing. To read about how these programs can hurt the homeschooling community and our freedoms, please click on the link.
